OmegaSonic0 rates this game: 5/5Crazy Taxi is one of the best games I've ever owned for my Dreamcast. It's a port of the arcade classic, with some fun bonuses added in.
The point of the game is to earn money to upgrade your liscence. To do this, you can take customers to their destination of choice, or perform insane stunts, or just drive dangerously and dodge other vehicles. Upon time running out, you're ranked by your liscence rank, F through S. Quick little romps through the city, driving like a maniac, and driving poor pedestrians insane. What more could we want in a game?
FlashFlare rates this game: 4/5Crazy Taxi is a taxi driving game where players select from four different drivers and rush through the city taking customers to various destinations. The game was originally released in arcades so the gameplay is fairly simple. Players simply follow a navigation arrow to get to a customer and then follow the arrow to the customer's destination to drop them off. Doing this earns points and time extensions that keep the game going. This is a score attack game so the game is endless until the player simply runs out of time. The home console release is slightly different from the arcade version as it includes a new map that is bigger than the one in the original and there are missions to clear in a mission mode. While not made mechanically transparent, there is a secret technique know as "Crazy Dash" that makes it possible to achieve faster speeds and certain missions are unbeatable without knowing this technique. Crazy Taxi isn't too rich with content, but the game is generally meant to be played in short bursts and mainly appeals to players looking to improve their skills by breaking new records.
