Genghis Khan (USA) ROM

Genghis Khan by KOEI is an excellent historical simulation/strategy game in which the player recreates the Mongol conquest. You may recognize KOEI from its more recent entries, such as the Kessen games on PSX and Nobunaga's Ambition on XBONE (itself a remake of another classic KOEI game). KOEI has elicited a well-deserved reputation for creating high-quality and innovative (if admittedly niche) historical strategy games. This is where a lot of it began. Many mechanics that became central to later series are introduced here, most specifically the complex system of human and material resource management, accessed through a series of menus and submenus and affecting everything from the percentage of your population diverted into the trades, to the relative success of your espionage efforts. If you have never played Nobunaga's Amabition or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the interface may seem a bit overwhelming at first. Take heart- the system of cause and effect is rational and you will soon settle into the menus with an intuitive ease. Furthermore, there is a pdf of the manual on the download page: read it, it will help you a lot. Genghis Khan can be a truly exciting, challenging, and immersive gaming experience.
