rbx4 rates this game: 3/5Nobunaga's Ambition is an early Koei's strategy game, where you get a chance to be Oda Nobunaga or one of his rival daimyos. The goal of the game is to unite Japan through conquest and assassination. The game itself is very complex, but like most of its kind will boil down to a relatively simple strategy. There are many ways to go terribly wrong at every step, including picking a bad daimyo at the start. The most frequent ways of losing are to be captured in battle or die of old age.
It is strongly recommended that beginners read online strategies posted from those who are experts on the game. Being a turn-based, menu-driven game, it will certainly not appeal to everyone. Those who like it will probably love it, however. Shingen the Ruler also takes place at almost the same time as this game, but is much easier to learn and play. The advantage of Nobunaga's Ambition is its much richer strategy and the ability to choose from a large number of daimyos instead of just Takeda Shingen, who happened to be one of Nobunaga's chief rivals.
