Game Description & Reviews:
OverviewThe follow-up to Ocarina of Time sees the series stalwart Link embark on a journey to save the land of Termina from being crushed by the moon in three days. To defeat the Skull Kid, Link has to live the same three days over and over again.
Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 2/5This game, to be honest, was a disappointment.
I had absolutely loved the Ocarina of Time, and was so excited when it's sequel, Majora's Mask was released, thinking that the game would be quite similar. Boy was I wrong.
It did have similar features to the original, Ocarina of Time. The menu and button functions were all the same, as well as many of the items that you acquire in the first game. But the story of the game and your objectives are ENTIRELY different and the game play as well.
This game is quite a bit shorter than many of the other Zelda games. Your object is basically to retrieve these 4 masks then you confront the main enemy, the skull kid and Majora's Mask.
I also found the way time passed to be a bit annoying. Majora's Mask has a very unique feature of completing your quest within 3 days. These days can be repeated as many times as you find necessary by playing the song of time, but each time you start those 3 days over, most all of your progress is lost (treasures you received except for major items such as the bow or ocarina, people you talk to forget that you ever spoke to them, and including the main bosses that you defeat and the villages you rescue). The only ways to save the game are to either start the three days over, or to do a quick save feature.
I think this game wouldn't have been such a disappointment to me if I hadn't been expecting a true sequel to Ocarina of Time. Overall, it's a Zelda game, and all Zelda games are addicting and fun, but this one I found to be just a little over-hyped and a bit of a waste of time and energy.
Patryk30111 rates this game: 5/5The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is perhaps one of the greatest works of art to ever come out of Nintendo's pockets. I say works of art because the game is still great to this day, better then Ocarina of Time in my opinion.
It's your typical Zelda gameplay: The mute protagonist Link, a large land to explore, vibrant characters to interact and quest with and a large overshadowing plot filled with many dark elements slipped in by Nintendo.
An excellent game that to this day stands as an example to modern gaming.
Nipplestone rates this game: 5/5To be honest, i like this better than ocarina of time. I mean, ocarina of time still does get 5/5 but something about majora's mask just makes me prefer playing it.
Maybe it's that majora's mask has more game time (If your collecting masks, which i recommend as each mask does interesting things) or that it's more challenging, i don't know but i pretty much find this better than ocarina of time.
I love the fact that the 3 main masks gives you pretty much different characters. There's loads of different extra's and dungeons which can only be completed with the masks giving you more to do and find.
The only little problem i have with it is the song you have to play when time starts running out (you only have 3 days before...just play the game) and when the song is played, it takes you all the way back to town which could be annoying if you were somewhere far or took hassle to get to. Also your collected rupees will go as well as collected arrows or bombs (the ability to collect bombs and arows won't go, just how much you've collected). You can actually put your rupees in a safe located in the main town and collect them again when the song plays (which doesn't make sense since if you rewind time, you'll reverse collecting rupees :S anyway...).
But anyway, this game is challenging but rewarding. There's a lot you can do even when quest is finished, plus there's a special mask which will make you want to play the game and bosses again ;)
Thanks for reading =D
Zelda-Lover rates this game: 5/5This is my all time favorite game. It takes place in parallel universe to Hyrule, called Termina. It's up to you, Link, to save this world in peril.
Vince rates this game: 5/5While everyone knows about the greatness of Ocarina of Time, fewer people know just how amazing Majora's Mask is. In your quest to save Termina from destruction, you travel through a variety of terrains using Masks and items to pass through obstacles. The most interesting feature is that you time travel back to Day 1 of 3 to save the game, which you'll be doing a lot. With a great soundtrack, graphics that take advantage of the N64's Expansion Pak, and a story that keeps you going, Majora's Mask is a definite classic.
