gocincy rates this game: 4/5Pure-Stat Football, is a game based off of, you guessed it Stats, the game came out in 1987 for the Commodore 64 , it featured the previous 40 Superbowl Teams (20 games with 2 teams) this was a great way to, statistically, have the 1978 Steelers play the 1966 Packers.
Now, as far as the game play, you could play against the PC, against a foe, or simulate the entire game. Once you have selected the 2 apposing teams, your role in this game is more of a coach, you would select a play from the on screen menu (Run, Pass), then another menu of play would appear, like for Pass, there would be Short , Long or Play Action. Then once the Person (or PC) selects the options for defense, the some what outdated, (even in its day) graphics would show the results, all 11 players where displayed. The really great (statistically) players, would even "juke" would be tacklers . I played this game with my friends for years, calling the plays for your favorite Superbowl, winning or losing, team was a lot of fun, before all of the great graphic based games came out. When selecting the plays, there was a lot more options than I have listed, you could select the player who you wanted to either pass to or hand the ball off to, 1 of my favorite plays was the "QB fall on ball", which we all thought it was a funny name for the play that runs the time off of the clock near the end of the game/half, now know as the Victory Formation. The only real draw back with the game was that you could not update the team lists with the new Superbowl Teams, and yes there was a modem made for the commodore 64, (mine was 300 Bauds)
