Jumbojer rates this game: 4/5Ascendancy is a turn-based strategy game. Which is rather hard to describe in this particular case, but let's start at the beginning.
You get to choose one of the 21 different species, each with their own history, home planet type and special ability.
Amongst the course of the game, you build up your home planet, research, build ships, set out of your solar system and colonize other planets.
But that's not all ofcourse, you can make alliances, trades of star locations and research info and you may wage war.
The game comes with different densities for the galaxy, which you can choose from when you pick your game. It is recommended for new players to start in a small or mediocre density with NPCs to be set to 'peaceful by nature' rather than the normal or hostile versions.
However, the AI is utterly lacking. To make the AI more challenging, it is recommended to download the AI patch.
From the moment you set out, to the moment you control a large amount of solar system this game will make you want more and more.
For it's time, this game was amazing. And even now, it brings a smile to the people who still play it.
