Rockman Battle & Fighters ROM

Rockman Battle & Fighters is a 2D fighting game that focuses on boss rushes rather than traditional 1 vs 1 matches. The game is a scaled down compilation of both Mega Man The Power Battle and Mega Man 2 The Power Fighters. The games are faithfully recreated on the Neo Geo Pocket maintaining all the playable characters and mechanical nuances from each title. Players take on six robot masters in each game in any order they choose with which ever character they choose until they reach a sub boss that is then followed with a confrontation with Dr. Wily. The player acquires a new move after defeating each robot master that they can switch out for their default shot in the pause menu. There are three sets of robot masters in each game and the player can unlock databases of the characters while playing. The controls are fairly simple as players shoot with the A button and jump with the B button. Holding down the A button charges your shot while holding down and pressing the B button gets you a dash move with slight property variations between characters. The game has no multiplayer though it was designed for players to give and receive database information. The graphics are also some of the best on the Neo Geo Pocket as the game was released near the end of the handheld's life span. Rockman Battle & Fighters is an impressive handheld recreation of two arcade games in one that may be of interest to people who want to see what the Neo Geo Pocket was truly capable of handling.
