Antoids rates this game: 4/5Evolution: The World of Sacred Device is a blend of JRPG and dungeon crawler/roguelike that remains charming to this day.
Its combat is based on positioning, with characters in the front row dealing more damage, but also being more vulnerable, while playersin the back row take less damage, but also deal less damage. There are a number of abilities that take advantage of the position of enemies, as well.
The story follows Mag Launcher, Linear Cannon, and their friends/allies, as they work as dungeon raiders, gathering unique artifacts for display at the local museum. The eventual goal is to pay off Mag's incredible debt, accrued from failing missions in the past. However, a mysterious fleet arrives shortly, and starts to take interest in Mag and Linear, for reasons unknown. . . .
