OverviewControl Luigi as he attempts to rescue his brother Mario from Bowser's Antarctic castle in this edutainment/platformer hybrid.
Anonymous rates this game: 5/5IT'S-A ME, WEEGEE!!! Hah, hah. This game was awesome. Yeah, Nintendo licensing its stuff for educational games was weird, but it was still pretty cool.
Mystics Apprentice rates this game: 1/5I was turned on by the title... "Mario Is Missing" Wow, how cool, I thought. You get to play as Luigi and Yoshi in search of Mario and the whole intro looks just like Super Mario World. So yeah, I got super excited. But when you actually got to playing the game... Can we say BORING!
The game is not what it seems from the outside AT ALL! You travel around towns in different parts of the world talking to people to find answers to the historical questions and return ancient artifacts stolen from the museum. That's it. No adventure, no koopa bashing, nothing of the sort. I was totally disappointed, and would not recommend this game to anyone. A huge waste of time, and not even sure why Nintendo bothered, unless of course the game was used for educational purposes to learn some basic historical facts and geography.
lfz rates this game: 2/5This game is... wacky... can I use that word here? From time to time, in the SNES era, Nintendo would license it's characters to strange and sometimes ill-fated gaming endeavors, Mario is Missing! is one of those.
Mario's been kidnapped and Luigi has to travel the world to save him. That's the premise, and is a plausible excuse for: "Learning geography with the Mario Bros".
You progress from country to country in a world map and solve "mysteries" in each of them. The gameplay is pretty boring, it only involves running around, stomping on koopas (which aren't even dangerous to start with!), collecting stuff and answering some geography questions about the country you currently in. Repeat this a million times.
To be honest I did play this when I was younger, but I don't recommend anyone to do it. I guess I just have too much time in my hands :)
