Vince says:Mega Man X4 was the first all-new Mega Man X game for Playstation, and with that freshness came beautiful graphics, a decent soundtrack, and fun gameplay tweaks. The story is that the Repliforce, a Reploid military organization, has declared war against the Maverick Hunters, and only X and Zero can stop them. However, there is someone behind the Repliforce and their actions, someone very familiar to players of the X series...
Mega Man Retro Gamer rates this game: 5/5Surprisingly I though this game was gonna be hard, but when I first played its kinda easy. I love this game, this is my fourth favorite I love the SNES trilogy very very MUCH, I like it more than Mega Man 8 but that was also a great game, X4 I just like it, that was the intro now lets get to the review, well I'm not the best at reviews, so, don't judge 😉. The graphics, a HUGE improvement over the SNES trilogy, the graphics are great and modern gamers SHALL NOT say that this game's graphics suck, modern gamers are so racist against us retro gamers, but anyway lets get to the gameplay, same as the previous games, you get armor upgrades from Dr.Light capsules, you get heart tanks, you get sub tanks, but we have new types of sub tank, we have the weapon tank, speaks for itself, refills all weapon energy, the soundtrack, holy mother of Reploids it is AWESOME, listen to the intro stage theme its so CD-audio GLORIOUSNESS, Capcom, this is why I love you so much 💖💖💖 your games are great, difficulty, its great, I say the difficulty is Normal (I guess) but when you play as X the game is easy once you have the right weakness of every Maverick and with Zero the game is challenging. Overall, the game is great I give it a 9.5/10, it was great for its time, but still is today and modern gamers stop being so RACIST against us.
Sloshy rates this game: 5/5MegaMan X4 is the fourth game in the MegaMan X series (as obviously implied) and the first to be natively developed for the PSX. The game is just as fun to play as it's three predecessors and includes several new elements to the gameplay. The most major of these enhancements, besides the better graphics and sound, is that Zero, X's partner since the first game, is now fully playable and has his own separate story to follow. X and Zero get different powerups as well; X's are more traditional, being different weapons with their own ammo counters, while Zero gets techniques that don't depend on ammo like double-jumping or air-dashing. X is also able to get secret suit upgrades that make fighting easier, while Zero doesn't have any and has to fight at close range, making playing as him slightly harder, though his Z-saber does a lot of damage. While this isn't my favorite Mega Man X title, it's a blast to play through and has a lot of replay value with hidden secrets and upgrades to discover!
