TheGoofDaddy rates this game: 4/5Champions Forever boxing features 8 of Professional Boxing's most legendary combatants. The roster includes Carl Kasian, George Foreman, Rafael Chavez, Denzel Banks, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Larry Holmes, and Ken Norton. Each bout is given a historic Tag Name Such as "The Rumble in the Jungle" There are two modes of play, which include Exhibition and Career. The exhibition is a single one or two player match. The Career Mode follows your selected boxer through several bouts leading to the Heavyweight Championship. In this title, the object (Obviously) is to punch your opponent until his HP is depleted for a knock down and eventual knockout (KO) or Technical Knockout (TKO) A TKO can occur even if your boxer could continue, but has been knocked down many times in a single round. A KO occurs if the boxer cannot answer the referee 10 count. There are two buttons to use to land punches. One button is used for different types of jabs to the head and body dependent on which D Pad direction is pressed. The other button is for landing more powerful punches to the head and body such as Hooks and Uppercuts. (This is also dependent on which D-Pad direction is pressed) Throwing punches reduces your boxer's stamina, and it reduces in greater amount if your punches are off the mark. The stamina refills slowly, but your Strength (HP) does not. If Strength reaches zero the boxer will hit the canvas and the count will begin. If a boxer finds himself in one of the losing scenarios the match is over. If the match goes the entire 12 rounds the referee will make the decision, and declare a winner. This game is well put together and whereas there are better boxing games out there, for its time this one was probably one of the best and most realistic.
