Vgame rates this game: 5/5Lego Star Wars II the original trilogy; even more fun than the first Lego Star Wars game, bringing back all the characters from the first and adding quite a few new characters. This game has so many fun quirks I'd have to write an essay to go over them all.
When I say brings them back from the first, I'm talking about if you have save data from the first game, it takes your hard work and dedication and allows you to immediately transport that data to this game, giving you all the classic characters you love from the Star Wars series but still having a large group that needs to be unlocked that weren't in the last game. Combine this with the best Lego customization character and you have a lot of fun! In this second installment you can now create your own character from a wide arrange of Lego parts from other characters in the game. You want a bounty hunter that can use Sith like force powers, throw bombs (Thermal Detonators,) jet pack around; and have a light saber? You can do that!
If you liked the collectathon that was the first game, this game brings the same cards to the table, with even more fun challenges and puzzles to get Mini-Kits (Small kits that contain Lego to build models of ships/vehicles from the Star Wars universe.) Golden Bricks, which there's a total of 99 of in the game. I won't spoil it and tell you what's waiting at the other end of those bricks but I think it's a fun little treat. On top of the extra collectibles there are more challenging story modes to move through, challenges in which you have an hour to go through an entire chapter and collect at least 100k studs, netting you a reward for your effort. These are fun and fairly balanced as long as you know what you're doing in the courses, makes you feel sort of like a speed runner; trying to get through a course as fast as you can while exploiting various things you've unlocked to help you through the level.
When all is said and done this game deserves a 5/5, the quirkiness of the Lego comedy combined with the original story acted out in Lego form; really is a gem among the GameCube's pile of great games. I highly recommend playing it even if you haven't had the pleasure to play the first, you'll find a lot of enjoyment is to be had.
