Rhythm Tengoku is a rhythm game developed by Nintendo SPD Group No. 1 who are also responsible for the excellent Wario Ware series. While most rhythm games have the player follow a sort of bouncing ball to the sound of popular licensed music, Nintendo took a much more creative and original approach that is both simpler to play and far more compelling. Mostly played with just the A button. Each stage starts with its own scenerio, from a samurai who kills demons to the rhythm, to mice who hide from cats, or a group of dancers in space. The scenerios are almost always entertaining and full of imagination. The game's original soundtrack is mixed with unique graphical cues telling the player when to react. While it all sounds easy, the game is actually very challenging and occasionally requests near perfection from the player in order to pass a stage. Though it may be completely in Japanese, the game is very easy to understand and can be played by anyone. --- I've never played a rhythm game like it, and I've never enjoyed one as much.
