: This latest version of the series is called Darius R -- that's a big,
: capital "R" for "revival." The game proudly retains the trademarks of the
: series -- namely huge bosses, massive laser blasts powered up to fire in
: myriad directions, and a bizarre sea (but usually not underwater) motif.
: Hopefully, what the game won't retain is the slowdown and flicker that
: plagued many other editions of the series -- the GBA has been a strong
: gun runner with the few shooters that have blasted through it so far, so
: chances are that this one will fare well. The stage layout is a branching
: structure that takes you through the game's 15 stages in a different
: order -- you can buzz through the game in as little as 20 minutes, but
: every trip through may be a little different depending on which branch
: you access along the way. There's also a single-stage mode where you can
: play through any of the stages you've unlocked for a quick blast-a-thon
: fix.
