UnholySanctuary rates this game: 5/5Mr. Gimmick was a game only released in Japan and Europe and arguably the best platformer the 8-bit console era had to offer. It pushed the limits of the NES/Famicom's hardware to deliver stunning graphics, an intricate soundtrack, and even a physics engine.
The story involves a girl who receives a Mr. Gimmick for her birthday. All of her other toys get jealous and kidnap her. It's up to Mr. Gimmick to save her. The interesting part is, if you don't beat the game in a certain amount of time and get several secret items, you don't get the secret ending.
The gameplay itself is challenging. You have to be a pro at controling the bounce of Mr. Gimmick's star (which uses the physics engine mentioned before). Getting the special ending is an incredibly difficult task.
All in all, it's a hard game, but definitely one to check out.
teapartycthulu rates this game: 5/5This game is absolutely fantastic. The music is some of the best on the entire NES, it looks great, controls perfectly, and like any good NES sidescroller, it's balls-out hard. Luckily, unlike some others, it has infinite continues.
DO NOT try to get the special ending unless you have played this game a lot.
