Double Dragon II - The Revenge (USA) ROM

The Shadow Warriors have killed Billy Lee's girlfriend, Marian. The Double Dragon have sworn to avenge her death and take down the Shadow Warriors once and for all. Using their martial arts skills, they must fight their way through to the final confrontation with the leader of the Shadow Warriors. Only by defeating him can Marian's death be truly avenged.

Superior to the first game because of the epic Co-Op play. Snatch up a buddy and rid the streets of crime, martial arts style. Has an odd button choice where you can hit in-front of or behind you, but you'll get used to it soon enough.

Double Dragon II features far superior gameplay over its NES predecessor. The moves are interesting and showy, and the fights are fun. There is also an excellent 2-player simultaneous mode. It is a mostly a side-scroller but features some platform play. The main drawbacks of Double Dragon II are the parts where you need to avoid pits and spikes in obstacle courses. That is where the unusual jumping controls become something of an annoyance. Many players tend to end their runs at that point just because they can't stand to break up the action.
