Cobra Command (USA) ROM

Man, that title opening is cool! This game surprised me in so many ways. I forced myself to play it, struggling when I was doing it the 'right' way, which includes a terrible slowing mechanic as the scrolling begins that pushes your helicopter to the left side of the screen. When I tried it flying backwards I was able to enjoy the game much more...which in itself is a surprise because I don't like these types of vehicle gunner games at all.

Controls are on point, didn't feel any misfires or lagging. As already mentioned, there is a weird, slowing scrolling effect when you move through the levels that isn't pleasant.

The BGM was a huge surprise to me. I loved every track and I thought they were all awesome. SFX sounded good but nothing out of the ordinary.

Graphics were good. Nothing amazing or new, but just good solid colors, shading, and detail overall.

Gameplay was really similar for every level as you fly through, destroy a structure, enter the underbelly, destroy a silo or rescue some dudes in a cave while blowing up tanks...but it was solid gameplay. There are upgrade stations where you can improve your chopper, too, which was another surprise to me. As an arcade game port, I wasn't expecting lasting upgrade options like that.

Overall, this is a great game worth a play.
