Game Description & Reviews:
An intense action platformer focusing more on a small number of carefully crafted levels meant to be increased in difficulty instead of hundreds of mediocre levels to provide the challenge.
Controls were mostly spot on but there were hiccups in platform jumping/dropping. There are several weapons available including punching, hatchets, and rocks. There is a variable height jump and crouch as well as the ability to jump up through platforms, crouch-drop down through them, and jump-crouch smash breakable platforms. Weapons have amounts as well as different hit ranges and pathing (for instance, the hatchet arches meaning you have to aim better to hit item boxes to conserve uses).
Sound and music was...sadly...mostly annoying. It was bleep blooping all over the place and someone in development found out how to make echo/double up on the sound and LOVED it. There were a few times were I turned the BGM off even because it was distracting me.
Graphics were pretty good and everything was easy to make out. Colors, backgrounds, etc all worked well to create a dingy, creepy, yet serious atmospshere. Monsters looked mostly good, too.
Gameplay consisted of moving through multi-level areas which feature moving/falling/fake platforms, hidden passageways, levers, breakable floors, spikes, lava and water (which is damaging), balls of fire, and more. Mechanics focused on timing level traps and catching things as they popped out at you like hands coming through the walls, ghosts appearing, and zombies reanimating.
Proabably the only thing that frustrated me in the game was the hiccups with platform dropping and jumping up through them where sometimes the PC would just refuse to do as he was commanded which caused unnecessary damage. ...and the incredibly small boss areas, though I assume that was an attempt at raising difficulty.
Overall a great, challenging game that I enjoyed playing through two difficulty levels in.
