Game Description & Reviews:
OverviewBased on the TV-serie with the same name, this Bandai game to the NES is infamous for its poor AI.
Bloodblade07 rates this game: 1/5 The Adventures of Gilligan's Island. I am not even sure what kind of genre this is. It's like a maze, beat-em up (but you can't even punch the animal, but you have a punch animation), thing.
I couldn't play the whole game because it's so hard, and confusing. You suppose to find all your ship-mates after your ship crashed. There is no map, or any sign of where you should go.
As for the music. It;s not TOO repetitive but it's not the greatest 'tune' in the world. The song is exactly 26 seconds long (I counted) and it wouldn't be THAT bad but if your like me, and Gilligan is falling in ditches every 5 minutes, then the song is with you forever.
If your a big fan of the show, I won't hold you back, but I'll tell you this: This game is the same things as drugs and I'm going to tell you the same thing what they say about drugs... Stay away from that thing, it's bad for your mental health.
Knirps rates this game: 5/5I actually really enjoyed this game. I played for over 5 hours before moving on.
Controls are pretty good and I only felt like they were frustrating once or twice.
The soundtrack was fairly good. It had varying music which actually felt dramatic, dangerous, calm, or happy when necessary. The sound effects were very sharp and that was probably the most annoying thing about the game.
Graphics were a bit blurry and undefined but there was a lot going on. It was clear there were attempts to make the world seem detailed and engaging.
Gameplay was interesting with a story one could follow. I felt like there was good, structured gameplay and tasks. There were a few times I was trudging through the jungle back and fourth just because I missed an item but I felt like that was on me and not the game expecting you to read its mind.
Overall, I feel like this is a title everyone should play to enjoy the highlights of the NES console. Even as someone who never watched Gilligan's Island (aside from some late night insomnia with Nick at Nite) I had fun with it.
