The Extra mode is the typical AOF scheme / KOF, which your power meter fills as you defend yourself or attacks. The new advanced mode, on the other hand, only allows you to increase the meter as you make movements and attacks, similar to the Street Fighter saga specials. Extra allows you to set aside the attacks, while advanced lets the character roll and dodge attacks; Advanced also allows a character to a powerful Super Desperation Move at any time if the character has at least two full bars of stored energy
