OverviewReleased initially for the Atari 2600 by Activision in 1982, River Raid is one of the first scrolling shooters ever made. As a rogue fighter jet, players must destroy bridges, sink civilian ships, and take out the defending military trying to stop their rampage.
Fugsnarf rates this game: 3/5The Atari 2600 original, River Raid, is a true classic. This game is just plain addicting. You play this game flying a plane over a river. Your objective is to move along the river and try to destroy everything in your path, thus the title "River Raid". While you fly over the river, your plane slowly gets lower on fuel. There are various fueling "pit-stops" along the river in which you may fill up on fuel. I find it fun to blow those up every once in awhile.
A Classic rates this game: 4/5As an Atari 2600 classic, this game is awesome. With almost NES graphics (Hey, that's really good for it's time!), great gameplay, and sheer addictiveness, it's a reccomended get.
