Genre: Trivia/Board GameMastermind was a computerized (DOS) version of the famous code-breaking board game, Mastermind, which game was introduced in 1971 (see Wikipedia entry for further historical details) It became a huge success shortly after it was introduced. introduced. Mastermind was available by the mid-1980s as a DOS program, put out by a company called Spinnaker. One competed with the computer to break codes. It was a great game in its original computer permutation, as it was/is in board-game format - still sold today. Not sure how Hasbro got involved but I suspect they acquired Spinnaker. The game is currently available in Windows along with a variety of portable apps - don't know how the modern version compares with the orginal Dos permutation.
