Bio Menace Compilation (1993)(Apogee Software) Game

Abandonware / DOS Games

Rating: 5/5

Biomenace is another early 90s sidescroller from Apogee Software. One of the more over looked titles from Apogee, its worth noting that this entire game was made by only one person, Jim Norwood. He did the art, and the sounds and music. While this game may not do much to seperate itself from all the other side scrollers in this era, its still a fun playthrough. The games story is the typical "Mutants are attacking, only one man can save us" line, but it does it pretty well. The game contains lots of rooms to explore as you navigate the 2D playing field, finding keys to advance the levels, and extra bonus items to boost health and score. Plenty of gruesom scenes of mutant destruction line the backgrounds of some apartments, and enemies explode into satisfactory chunks when you blast them. You might not find much to like about this game now a days, as there are a lot of side scrollers out there to choose from that are better in some ways. But this game is still a fun classic, and if you remember playing it when it was new, then it makes it all the better to dust is off and give it a spin now.
