Taito Chase HQ is a third person driving game in which you are an undercover officer set out on a series of high speed chases to locate and apprehend fleeing suspects. This game was probably inspiration for Need for Speed Hot Pursuit. At the beginning of the chase you are treated to a radio dispatch briefing of the suspect, and what they are wanted for. Your job is to race through the heavy highway traffic and locate the suspect vehicle. (there is an indicator which gauges the distance between yourself and the suspect vehicle) Once located, you'll flip on your lights and sirens, and it is your job to ram the suspect vehicle until it's armor is depleted, forcing the suspect to stop the vehicle and thus apprehending them. As with most games in the genre at the time the road is very narrow offering only 3 lanes. Heavy traffic, tight turns and road signs always seem to be trying to get into the way. another potential obstacle is that your vehicle is manual transmission, and thus does no automatic shifting and if you're in the wrong gear your vehicle will not effectively perform. At the beginning of each run, (or if you happen to crash) you are given 3 boosts of Nitro. I recommend this game for fans of the genre and more advanced players as it can be quite difficult. -TGD
