Rating: 4.6/5
Genre: ActionPublished and licensed by Kaneko and Namco in 1990 for the arcades and PC Engine/TG16 as Aero Blasters, and soon after on SNES and Genesis as Air Buster this side scrolling, somewhat fast paced shooter is not for necessarily for the "Casual Gamer" in that your fighter jet (Which is able to visit areas of space) is in near constant danger of annihilation as you shoot enemy aircraft, collect power-ups, and defeat challenging bosses all while dodging a constant volley of enemy fire, and kamikaze aircraft to advance. To your advantage there are many power-ups to collect that really give you some formidable firepower! Unlike its arcade counterpart, Aero Blasters not only are there two different jets you can choose from in the 1 player "Scrambe" but there's also a multiplayer "Scramble" mode and that can get to be a LOT of fun Overview: The graphics are nice for the age and the music and sound effects aren't bad either. The difficulty can get pretty amped in later stages, but by then the player should be used to the mechanics. Rating this game against others of its type (Which is where I stand) such as Gladius (Gradius), it will hold up just as well, and perhaps be more of a visual treat. If you are a fan of the genre I recommend giving this game a try! -TGD
