Rating: 5/5
Genre: ActionSportsThis game is very underrated !! Designed by Tiertex, published by U.S. Gold and released in 1994, World Cup U.S.A. '94 is definitely a very well made soccer game, exclusively for men's World Cup 1994 (aka Mundial 1994) which was hosted and played in the United States in 9 stadiums, 9 cities and 8 states. The game has it all : fast pace, excitement, yellow / red cards (shown by a referee in a small window), fouls, penalties, even a coin toss before a match starts. It has plenty of options to select from like controls, movements, tactics, substistutes, dribbles, speed, wind etc. Moreover, it provides all the information of a matchday like weather, temperature, capacity and picture of stadium ! In general, it includes all the details required just like the official FIFA World Cup. It has a bird's eye-view perspective and its gameplay is quite good in Sega, Dos, Amiga and Game Boy but it is ALMOST PERFECT in the Snes version !! There the game is more realistic and you can move, pass and score more easily than on the other consoles. The easier way to score is with 2 passes, 3 the most, from the goalkeeper to the midfield and then to attack and a shot from a diagonal position. Of course you can also score from a straight position but you have to aim very precisely to the corner of the net. As for the graphics, they are not perfect, but still good enough to enjoy your play. This game is deprived and unappreciated compared to other popular soccer titles of the same era like FIFA International Soccer, World Championship Soccer or Super Kick Off. In fact, World Cup U.S.A. '94 is better than them... Considering that the game is all about a single World Cup tournament, it deserves 5/5. Ask mascot Pup and he will agree :)
