DJMax Portable Clazziquai Edition is the third DJMax installment for the PSP, breathing new life into the rythym game with plenty of fresh features. Released October 20, 2008, developer Pentavision teamed up with South Korean electronic group Clazziquai Project to bring 48 songs (8 by Clazziquai Project) to this DJMax version. Clazziquai Edition is catered towards the more casual player. It's sister game, Black Square was released 2 months later and contains a more difficult selection of songs. In the game, players must time button presses to falling notes, like in Guitar Hero or Beatmania, and score points depending on their accuracy and how many in a row they combo. Missing, or breaking notes results in a loss of health, which if depleted, ends the game. Hitting with 100% accuracy will build health back up, but also build a fever meter, which can be activated to multiply each note by 2, then 3, up to 5 times. There are five difficulties to play on using from 2 buttons to 6. High scores and combos will unlock songs in different modes as well as new gear or DJs to use and play as, allowing you to customize how the game plays and looks. Clazziquai Edition features the traditional 6 modes to play and listen to its music: Arcade Mode is DJMax's traditional stable where the player will mix 3 songs to achieve the highest score possible. Arcade mode also features free mode which lets the player practice 1 song of their choice. Club Tour is CE's mission mode. Players go from club to club either mixing tracks or facing other DJ's. When battlng a DJ, the player is given a goal, such as a combo, accuracy, or score, and must exceed it to win. Network Battle is an Ad-hoc multiplayer score competition. Link-Disc Mode allows the player to play previous DJMax songs with CE's new features, provided you have the older games. Album Mode - A non-play mode where the player can listen to songs they have unlocked and watch their videos. Collection Mode - Players can high scores, emblems, videos, and other items they unlock throughout the game.
