Puyo Puyo CD is a stacking puzzle game where players stack jelly creatures (Puyo) of four or more matching colors to eliminate them from the field. The player can go up against friends or the computer. The goal of the game is to outlive your opponent by getting bigger chains that cause more garbage blocks to appear on the opponent's side of the screen. When either player's side fills to the point that new Puyo overflow it, they lose the game. There have been several Puyo Puyo games across several different systems with minimal changes to gameplay so which version you play often boils down to preference or mechanical gimmicks like fever in later games.
